Bowl for Kids Sake Event goal to raise $125,000 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte.
Charlotte, NC -- February -- Big Brothers Big Sisters is excited to invite you to participate in its largest fundraising event of the year in the Central Carolinas. Bowl for Kids Sake is an opportunity for corporations and individual teams to support the economic mobility goals of the community in a fun and interactive way.
A recent Harvard study showed Charlotte ranking last, 50 out of 50 large cities, in economic mobility. Which means if children are born in poverty, through no fault of their own, they are likely to remain in poverty. Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better – one solution that directly addresses the issue locally. Corporate sponsors and participating individuals across the Carolinas are invited to participate in this event as way to be a part of that solution.
The 2017 Bowl for Kids’ Sake will take place Saturday February 11, 2017 at Ten Park Lanes, 1700 Montford Drive, Charlotte from 9:00am-4:00pm. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters biggest event of the year and a way for the organization to say “Thank you” to its supporters after months of raising awareness and funds. Participants form groups of at least 5 people and raise money per team. They celebrate with a huge bowling party, complete with balloon artists, photo booths, raffle prizes and more. Last year, the event boasted 500 attendees with corporate team representation from 20 area businesses. Attendees and Bigs and Littles were treated to the antics of local sports mascots Hugo the Hornet, Sir Purr and Homer the Dragon.
New for this year, and thanks to the generosity of Big Brothers Big Sisters supporters, the event will hold raffles for one-of-a-kind items like signed sports memorabilia.
“Most importantly,” says Anna Robinson, Events Manager, “we raised over $100,000 to provide a path of hope for our children in adverse circumstances in this community.” This year, the goal is even more dramatic: one event, one day of fun, 700 participants, and $125,000. This will support 25% more of our children in need in the coming year.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte has been making an impact in the lives of local children for 45 years by matching underprivileged youth in the Charlotte area with their very own professionally supported Big Brother or Sister.
